AVALON THE GHOST TOWN
From New Years Day until mid-February Avalon hibernates. Most of the shops, stores and restaurants close for "remodeling" and "renovations". Even the harbor is near empty. There were only six boaters there when Sue and I visited and three of us were from San Clemente, small world. Even the cruise ships that visit were running with less than 20% their normal passenger capacity. Fortunately, the recent rains have greened up the island for the winter. Three thumbs up on this visit.

JANUARY 2, 2022
The snow-capped San Gabriel Mountains made a great backdrop for our first sail in this new year. The sky was clear, the air was brisk and the wind was a very accommodating 14-16 knots. 👍
