We shortened our visit to Avalon this week after the forecast predicted some foul weather. Our passage there was easy, i.e., very little swell, light wind plus we were greeted by dolphins leaving Dana and approaching Avalon. Our trip back was another story, reefing the main with SE winds 15-25 knots, wind chop 3-4 feet mixed with a west swell, in addition the air was cold, very cold. All of this made for, as recorded in the boat's log, "A very uncomfortable and tough five and a half hour crossing."
PS Make sure you fill up before you go!
