MEETING OF THE SAN CLEMENTE BOAT CLUB

The SCBC originated in the 1940's. Doris Walker in The Heritage of San Clemente wrote, "The San Clemente Boat Club, formed at the time, operated the pier hoist beginning in 1949, when the members hand-built their own two-part clubhouse on both sides of the head of the pier. Boats hoisted out of the water were placed on dollies and pulled back along the pier by a small tractor to storage lockers in the clubhouse. In 1982 the club was evicted to make way for a major seafood restaurant." What became of the SCBC is anyone's guess.

Recently,  three San Clemente sailing couples (who first met in Avalon) gathered for libations and dinner. With a unanimous vote, the once-evicted SCBC has been resurrected. More to come!
